Jungle camping and trekking on the slopes of Mt Merapi Volcano near Yogyakarta in Indonesia. We explain why the hammock and tarp system is not suitable when camping at higher altitudes during rainy season in the tropics. Provided your tent has a waterproof base and you choose a campsite with reasonable drainage, you shouldn’t have any problem with ground flooding, in the mountains everything will eventually flow downhill and away from you.
