As originally posted below, I wasn’t sure who manufactured these tents for Aldi but flicking through the user manual today and found on the bottom of the warranty certificate, the after sales contact details are for “Companion Brands” who make a range of tents and camping gear that you can buy throughout Australia …. so there you go folks. ( not sure if they’re owned by or part of the Coleman group but they also make similar tents to these and to the Companion range )
Anyway see below for description….Cheers guys
Quick review on the AdventureRidge 4 person instant up tent. This great little beauty we picked up at Aldi at the start of October 2018….These were advertised at $300 however a week or two after they went on sale, they did a mark down for excess stock and I grabbed it for $199 !
This “instant up” 4 person tent takes literally 2 minutes to set up and maybe 3 to 4 minutes total if you include the fly / awning and upright poles.
I would love one of the 30 sec Oztents but at close to $1,000 they’re just way too far out of our budget so when we spotted these as a “special buy” at Aldi for $300 – we were dubious yet somewhat interested.
Well initial testing is in and it’s bloody awesome ! It appears to be solid, robust and waterproofed out of the box….seam sealed stitching in the fly and all seams…..fast to assemble steel poles for under the awning and a good waterproof bucket floor.
It actually states waterproof up to 1200mm high – don’t know if I’d like to really test that though LOL
We’re yet to sleep in it – haven’t had a free weekend yet since purchasing however I will give an update later down the track to let you know.
The way the legs extend out and the “spider net” ( my reference not theirs ) at the top of the tent poles where they all meet is very similar to the Coleman instant up tent range ( their video here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqJj0jh6J2w ) so whether these are made under licence by Coleman or are just a rip off copy of the Coleman design I couln’t tell you nor will Aldi ever reveal their suppliers but it’s very similar.
Packs down just as quick too which is always great for shorter one or two night stays. I’ve found the easier it is to camp the more you’ll do it !
Some of the specs are –

Also on this video I have what some may say is a small rant about people not leaving the bush how they found it which I will not apologise for as I’m passionate about our bush, and our camping lifestyle which we all have a duty of care to protect for each other.
We all have to make sure we leave no trace at all ! No trace then no reason for NPWS to close off more parks and tracks.
It’s not hard to do, just take your rubbish with you and follow common sense and common courtesy and we’ll all benefit !
Cheers guys and remember TREAD LIGHTLY in the bush and as always …
stress less …
…camp more !!
