Beat the Heat: Camp in the Rain

CAMPING IN THE RAIN
Beat the heat, while hammock camping in the rain at Pace Bend Park, Spicewood Texas, USA, July 8-11, 2019:
* Stay dry in a half bridge hammock
* Watch nature up close and personal
* Embrace sounds of the wild
* Witness the changing sky
* Swim and pain between showers.

The hammock was custom made for me by Bill in the Hills https://www.youtube.com/user/billyjoedenny/about . To increase shoulder room and hammock stability, I modified it by replacing one gathered-end with a steel broom handle. This modification is easy to make (or undo) on the trail. The modification improved stability because it used three points of attachment to the suspension system rather than two in the traditional hammock. A hangman’s knot was tied on cordage and wrapped around the broom handle and screw.
