Camping In Colorado – Alvarado Campground

WHERE CAN I CAMP
We recently took a camping trip to the Alvarado campground just outside of Westcliffe, CO. This is a great camping area that has around 50 campsites. Half of the sites are you can reserve at Recreation.gov and the other half are walk-up sites. There are no hook-ups, so it is like boondocking. There are however vault toilets and water stations. The camp area is very clean and well maintained.

You can access the Rainbow trail from the campground in multiple spots. Here you can hike, backpack to the Alpine lakes, go horseback riding, mountain bike, and/or ATV/Dirt Bike. This campground is great and is surrounded by National Forest!

Due to fire restrictions we were not able to have a camp fire at night 🙁 But we still had a great time!
