Hobo stew is a delicious and easy to cook one pot meal. You can prepare hobo stew over a campfire or butane camp stove setup. Hobo stew is by far one of the simplest bushcraft recipes. Another added benefit is that this recipe doesn’t require any special equipment or fridge. This recipe is also very useful for campers, backpackers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

A personal favorite is to prepare and eat hobo stew with cornbread. Also this something your four legged adventure buddy could enjoy too!

So get out there and give it a try on your next trip outdoors.
Hobo Stew Ingredients:
– 1 whole onion
– 2-3 potatoes
– 1 summer sausage
– 1 can Maple Cured baked beans

*You can also use a pound of ground beef instead of the summer sausage but the summer sausage is great because it is portable and can be carried in your backpack without refrigeration.

1. Slice potatoes and boil 15-20 minutes until soft
2. Slice onions and sauté for about 5–10 minutes,
3. Add salt and pepper to taste
3. Slice sausage, add to onions, cook additional 2 minutes
4. Heat up baked beans, drain potatoes and mix all the ingredients together
5. Enjoy!
