TIPS:
1. To make rehydrating more efficient, make sure to use small chunks of food, cut down meats and veggies as small as possible, and if using beans pick smaller varieties like pinto beans and black beans rather than big kidney beans.
2. REHYDRATING: put dehydrated meal in a pot, fill only to the top of the food with water and let it soak for 30mins or more (best to do while you’re setting up camp if you plan to have dinner right after). It won’t be completely rehydrated but it kickstarts the process. Then boil it up and simmer until the biggest pieces of food are fully rehydrated. Add water as you go but be sure not to add too much or your meal will be very bland.
3. Some of my friend keep food-safe silica packages and put them into their dehydrated meals to be extra sure no moisture ruins your meals. I just keep mine in the freezer right up until the night before my trips just to be sure.
